3G PS Vita is een experiment voor de toekomst
De baas van Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, heeft aangegeven dat de 3G-variant van PlayStation Vita een experiment en een investering is voor de toekomst. Een data-abonnement is een nieuw verschijnsel voor draagbare spelcomputers, en daar is Sony zich volledig bewust van.
De vraag is of gamers bereid zijn om naast de kosten van de spelcomputer ook nog te betalen voor een maandelijks data-abonnement. In een gesprek met IndustryGamers reageerde Yoshida hierop.
“I totally agree with where you’re coming from. It’s a new thing to have 3G capability in a portable gaming system,” aldus de Sony-baas. “It takes years to experiment and find a new way to use it, but unless we start somewhere we cannot even experiment. So 3G is our investment in the future.”
Vita is in de kern ontworpen voor sociale connectiviteit. Zo is het mogelijk uitdagingen te sturen naar vrienden en scores te vergelijken vanuit een spel. Yoshida denkt dat deze connectiviteit dé reden zal zijn om voor de 3G-versie te kiezen, omdat deze dan overal en altijd beschikbaar zal zijn. Volgens hem komt het hier op neer: ”you have to experience it before you might decide you want to get 3G.”
26 Launch titels in Japan voor de PS VITA
Tijdens de Tokyo Game Show heeft Sony bekend gemaakt dat er maar liefst 26 spellen uitkomen bij de launch van de Playstation Vita in Japan.
Het is nog niet bekend of deze spellen ook in de rest van de wereld zullen uitkomen voor de Playstation Vita. De volgende games zullen tijdens de launch van de PSVITA uitkomen.
